Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s career is coming to an end. The Swedish striker is now 41 years old. Nevertheless, he has earned a nomination to his country’s national team, but he is no longer expected in the starting line-up. He will probably have a different role in the team.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has returned from injury and has been picking up minutes off the bench in recent games for AC Milan. However, he still earned a nomination to the Swedish national team.

The last time we saw him there was at the end of March last year, when he unsuccessfully tried to get his team to the World Cup, but fell to Poland 0:2.

So now the veteran is back on the scene, but after a long injury he is not expected to be immediately in the starting line-up and scoring goal after goal.

Sweden will qualify for the Euros, first hosting group favourite Belgium at home and then challenging Azerbaijan again at home.

Ibrahimovic’s role will be different from before. He is going with the team as a joker, which can help especially at the end of the game in an unfavourable situation.

This was confirmed by coach Janne Andersson, who said at the press conference that his role will be similar to the one in Milan, where he comes on as a substitute.

He took him mainly because of his desire to play, plus he is a clear leader who can help the coach significantly in the locker room.
