Ibrahimovic is back! Career over? If I feel the way I feel now, I can manage a few more years, says AC Milan star
Zlatan Ibrahimovic made his first appearance of the season on Sunday evening, taking part in the AC Milan vs. Atalanta match. Few would expect this season to be the last for the lanky striker, but even at 41 years of age, he doesn’t seem to be looking to call it a day.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic made his first appearance of the season on Sunday evening, taking part in the AC Milan vs. Atalanta match. Few would expect this season to be the last for the lanky striker, but even at 41 years of age, he doesn’t seem to be looking to call it a day.
AC Milan managed to win 2: 0 at Atalanta on Sunday night, but it wasn’t the most important thing that happened, even considering their position in the table. The legendary Zlatan Ibrahimovic intervened in the match.
The veteran striker had not played since 22 May. He was plagued by health problems last season and didn’t play nearly as much as he would have liked. Despite that, he scored 8 goals and added 3 assists, helping to win the title.
Ibrahimovic was an asset whenever he was on the pitch, but especially in the locker room. He was the one who brought the team together. He instilled a winning mentality in the players and was one of the main architects of the great success.
If he retired, no one would be surprised. He helped win the title. He brought AC Milan back to the top. But he didn’t. Despite another injury, Ibrahimovic signed a new contract and wanted to move on. And now he’s back in action.
“It’s a great feeling. For a year and two months I couldn’t play football the way I wanted to. I didn’t feel good. I was suffering a lot before. Both because Mino Raiola died and because of my physical condition. Itwas not easy,” TuttoMercatoWeb quotes Ibrahimovic as saying.
“Now I am very well on the pitch. I feel comfortable there. I was a bit nervous, but I have a lot of confidence. Since I joined the team, I feel I can still pass something on to others,” he added.
And if this season will be his last? Quite possibly not. He said if he feels the way he feels now, he can not only make it through next season, but for the next couple of years.
