I wouldn’t give up for the world! Dvorak and his first words after his second UFC loss in a row
David Dvorak had his fifth fight under the UFC banner on Saturday night. He went into the bout coming off a defeat after ten long years, his opponent was former Rizin champion Manel Kape. Unfortunately, the Czech fighter lost. Shortly after the fight he sent a not so long message to the fans.
David Dvorak started his UFC career on a great note, he won his first three fights, however, this year in the best organization in the world hasn’t been very good for him. He had two fights and lost both of them.
In March, he fought for another ranking leap forward with Brazilian fighter Matheus Nicolaus, but lost on points in an evenly matched battle and it was the first time in 10 years that he lost.
Like Dvorak, his Saturday opponent Manel Kape, a former Rizin champion, also lost on points to Nicolaus. However, after the loss to the Brazilian, the Angola native was able to get his momentum going and intended to push the Czech fighter out of the top 10 of the UFC’s flyweight rankings.
And unfortunately, he seems to have succeeded. The former Octagon fighter wasn’t too keen on this fight, but unfortunately he couldn’t turn it down. He had no choice. And in the first round of the fight, you could tell he had a lot of respect for the Kape puncher.
In the first round, it became clear why. Although Dvorak delivered a takedown, the former champion of the Japanese organization put on a kimura and the world is still wondering how it is possible that the Czech didn’t tap out and lasted until the end of the first five minutes.
The second round was clearly Kape’s. Dvorak was in more than one critical situation, he hardly used his injured arm. Only in the third round was he the one who went for the finish. But the native of Angola managed to keep the fight despite several hard punches from the Czech fighter and won on points.
I wouldn’t give up for anything in the world!
The fans didn’t have to wait too long for David Dvorak’s first statement. He provided it on social media, where he first of all thanked everyone for their huge support.
“I’m so sorry I didn’t make it. I left it all out there and I wouldn’t have given up for the world, but unfortunately it wasn’t enough to win,” the Czech fighter, who is biting his second loss in a row, let slip.
However, Dvorak should stay in the top 15 and is certainly not written off. Both of his losses have come against really good fighters whose qualities are known by the UFC itself.
Let’s hope that the former Octagon fighter is in the best health possible and that the hand injury is not serious.
