Barbora Krejcikova, after arriving in Australia, had her first tournament in Sydney, in which she did well, falling in the final.
She has been on a good run at the Australian Open so far, beating three opponents already, with a tough match against Victoria Azarenka awaiting her in the eighth round.
But tennis players, especially nowadays, have to take care of their health, a coronavirus infection would mean an immediate end to the tournament, which Krejcikova is aware of.
“I have to admit that I don’t go anywhere. I just spend my time between the campus and my room. I’m quite worried about the disease, I want to be healthy so I can do what I came here to do – play tennis.
My coach and I get tested every day, and I hope everyone does, because I kind of miss the official PCR testing at the tournament. I would welcome it because players can go all over the place and I know there are people who have come out positive,” he said in an interview with iSport.
She has faced Azarenka in the past but lost in three sets. Moreover, the Belarusian is her role model, so Krejcikova is happy to face her again.
