I wanted to leave Arsenal after three months, it was the worst period of my career, admits Willian. Why?

Willian is now based in Brazil, but last year he swapped Chelsea for Arsenal over the summer, a move that surprised quite a few in the football world. However, he didn’t do too well in the Gunners jersey, so he left after a year. Why?
It wasn’t a very expected move, but it happened nonetheless. Willian, a long-time Chelsea icon, traded his blue jersey for a red one and left for Arsenal.
In his very first game, he provided three assists and seemed to be motivated by his new job. But it was only a glimpse. The Brazilian didn’t show good performances very often.
“I wasn’t happy, that’s why I didn’t give good performances. I don’t want to go into details, but that’s just the way it was. When I arrived, everything looked great, I was motivated, new club, new teammates. But after three months I begged my agent to arrange my departure,” he admitted.
“I don’t want to speak badly about Arsenal because it’s a big club with a great history, but it just didn’t work out. It was the hardest period of my career,” Willian added.
However, after just one year, the Brazilian quit the club, agreeing a mutual termination of his contract with Arsenal. He even gave up a two-year contract. But as he says himself, money is not the most important thing in life.
He says he wants to enjoy the game, wake up and go to training with a smile. But that’s not what happened at the Gunners. So he and his wife decided to move on. According to him, it would be unfair to stay just because of finances.
At Arsenal, Willian played 37 competitive games with an unflattering record of 1 goal scored and 7 assists.
