I want to fight Jiri again and I want to take my belt back. We can do it in January in Brazil, said Teixeira
Glover Teixeira has been looking for a rematch ever since his defeat. However, Jiri Prochazka is being lined up and it’s unlikely to happen now. Now the Brazilian has come up with a date, but one that would suit him better because of the venue.
Glover Teixeira has been looking for a rematch ever since his defeat. However, Jiri Prochazka is being lined up and it’s unlikely to happen now. Now the Brazilian has come up with a date, but one that would suit him better because of the venue.
The fight has been over for a month now, but there has been talk of a rematch all along. And that was from the defeated Glover Teixeira, who felt the win was close.
But then Prochazka ended it and became champion. Teixeira realizes he could beat Prochazka, but the organization probably has other plans.
Still, he keeps talking about it to get the fans to demand it. Now he has come out with another statement, which also outlines the date and venue. However, that suits him better.
“I want to fight Jiri again and I want to take back my belt. Just considering how the fight went and how it looked, everyone wants to see a rematch. I was leading as champion, but I let it get taken away.
It was a great fight overall and deserved a rematch. If the UFC does a rematch, I don’t think there will be anyone complaining about it. Except for the fighters who are grinding their teeth for the title. We might as well have it in Brazil in January.
I want to fight in Brazil, but I’m not champion anymore, so it’s more up to the UFC and Jiri. However, when I was champion, I wouldn’t have had a problem going to the Czech Republic to fight. I wouldn’t turn down any place,” Teixeira said.
But his words apparently won’t be heeded. UFC President Dana White has other plans and a rematch may happen later rather than now. Moreover, Walk wants the fight later this year.
