Barbora Krejčíková is showing excellent performances at the Australian Open, she easily defeated Victoria Azarenka in the eighth round and thus advances to the quarter-finals where she will challenge American Madison Keys. What did she say after the match?
In the morning, Barbora Krejcikova faced Victoria Azarenka of Belarus, who was a slight favourite in the match. But the Czech didn’t play the odds and after two identical sets 6::2 she advanced to the next round.
“I’m glad that I managed to take the first set and then that I played well, that I kept the whole match under control and that I finished the match successfully,” said the popular tennis player in an interview with Czech Radio.
Krejčíková is absolutely shining at the tournament, she also plays doubles together with Katerina Siniakova. On Monday they will face Collins and Krawczyk.
“It’s difficult because I care about doubles as well. I want me and Kate to play doubles well, to win and to do well. So I have to go into the match at 100 percent and always keep my concentration. And I always try to make sure that we spend as little time as possible in doubles so that we can play well and for a shorter period of time,” she added.
A day after this event, Krejcikova will face the singles quarter-finals, her opponent will be the strong American Madison Keys, who will be the underdog in the duel.
“We have to look at it with my coach, figure out the tactics. I watched how she played with Paula (Bados), she serves well, she has a cannonball forehand. And she didn’t make any mistakes, she played well. I think it’s going to be a nice match. I’m looking forward to it,” she finished.
