On Monday evening, the new winner of the Ballon d’Or will be announced, and apart from Robert Lewandowski, the name of Lionel Messi is very much in the running. What does his teammate Sergio Ramos have to say?
Lionel Messi may not have the numbers he was used to at Barcelona since his move to PSG. You can see that he is still getting used to his new job. Nevertheless, he is proving to be a unique footballer.
On Sunday, for example, he masterminded a turnaround against Saint-Étienne. The Parisians were trailing, but Messi averted defeat with three assists. He could have scored a goal himself, yet he threw away a great chance.
After eleven competitive matches in the French team, he has 4 goals and 4 assists, which is definitely not bad.
Making his debut for PSG on Sunday was his long-time rival Sergio Ramos, with whom he’s had fierce battles for years in Barcelona’s clashes with Real Madrid. After the game, he had this to say about the Argentine star.
“Of course I hope Leo wins the Ballon d’Or. I wish him the best of luck. He’s playing in very good form and he’s the type of player who makes the difference in matches. He’s unique and it’s a privilege to have him in the team,” Ramos was quoted as saying in an interview with ESPN.
The Spanish defender also stated that he will defend Messi. Likewise, he believes that the star Argentine will show football fans that his transfer to PSG was not a mistake.
