Football brings interesting stories. One of them was written by Declan Rice, a 22-year-old midfielder for West Ham and the England national team. After his colleague Raheem Sterling’s goal, Hungary fans threw cups of beer at the player, from which Rice drank. And for the first time in his life.
The English national football team had no problems in the duel with Hungary and won 4: 0. And with four wins, they’ve clinched top spot in Group I.
A really interesting situation happened after Albion’s first goal, scored by Raheem Sterling. He used his shirt to honour the memory of his deceased friend and at that moment beer cups started flying at him.
His teammate Declan Rice picked up one of the cups and finished his beer. That in itself wouldn’t have been all that interesting if it wasn’t Rice’s first beer ever.
“I’ve never had a beer before today, and I’m 22 years old! It’s true. I’ve never had a drop. Don’t drink it. People were surprised, but I just don’t like the smell, so I don’t go near beer,” he said after the game.
Rice talked about not having tasted the beer a few months ago when he promised to taste it when he celebrates his European title.
But England failed to do that, so he decided not to wait and drink his favourite drink for the first time in a rather unconventional way.
