I had to have three abortions, admits Ronald’s partner. But United didn’t trust the Portuguese when his daughter was sick
Just as life has been generous to Cristiano Ronaldo for 36 years, giving him virtually everything he wanted, it has been equally cruel to him. In her documentary, Portugal’s partner Georgina Rodriguez revealed that she had to have three miscarriages before losing one of her twins in childbirth.
As generous as life has been to Cristiano Ronaldo over 36 years, giving him virtually everything he wanted, it was equally cruel to him last year. The Portuguese’s partner Georgina Rodriguez revealed in her documentary that she had to have three miscarriages before losing one of her twins in childbirth.
On Friday 24 March, the second series of the documentary by Cristiano Ronaldo’s partner Georgina Rodríguez, where she reveals more intimate things about her life, will be released on Netflix.
The loss of her newly born son Ángel last April is a big theme in the documentary. Spanish newspaper El Español was able to get a glimpse of the first chapter where Georgina shows her feelings.
The Spanish model is declassifying information that has not yet been made public. “When I was pregnant with the twins, every time I went to the gynaecologist I had nightmares at night, I was scared of how they would line up, how the birth would go, I was so scared. I had to have three abortions before and I always came home completely devastated,” Georgina reveals a big secret.
When it came to the moment Cristiano and Georgina had been waiting for, it came to a cruel end. “The moment you’ve been waiting for comes and your heart stops. Bella was born healthy and strong, but a piece of my heart was gone,” she says of the loss of her son Ángel.
“I asked myself how I was going to cope, I wasn’t ready to understand what had happened. I told my children that Ángel would be born soon, I couldn’t tell them. Only then did Cris tell the children that Ángel was in heaven,” says Georgina.
Manchester United’s mistrust
You can probably imagine how Ronaldo must have felt when he lost his four children. He was devastated inside, but his football career continued and the Portuguese had to help Manchester United fight for a Champions League place.
He was treated very nicely by rivals Liverpool, for example, who stood up in the seventh minute of their mutual match at Anfield Road and all clapped in support.
But he didn’t get that from his own club. In the summer, Ronaldo’s other daughter fell seriously ill and had to go into hospital. After all the experience, the Portuguese didn’t want to leave his family alone and, like a good father, stayed on to support his partner and other children.
But because of this he missed the pre-season tour and missed the preparation with the club. However, the club management and coach Erik ten Hag did not trust him. In a famous racy interview with Piers Morgan, Ronaldo said that he was very hurt when the management questioned if he really couldn’t leave with the team.
When he returned to the club, he was greeted by the bench, harsh treatment from ten Hag and a lack of respect. It did not show Manchester United in a good light at all.
At the same time, Georgina admits that Cristiano was hugely affected by the whole affair and it has affected his performance. Despite this, he has helped the family enormously. “Cris gave us all endless love and support. He was extremely important to all of us. God will send the right people your way,” Rodríguez said.
