Lionel Messi is often seen as a footballer whose behaviour everyone could take a cue from. He is characterised by modesty and humility. This was most evident in his recent interview with France Football.
The Argentine football star won his seventh Ballon d’Or on Monday. A feat that will be very hard to surpass, if anyone ever manages it.
Despite being considered by many to be the best footballer in history, Lionel Messi is very humble. He doesn’t even think he is a role model for children to follow.
And how has he described his journey to his current reputation? “I fought for my dreams. First I wanted to be a professional footballer, then I tried to surpass myself every year and achieve new goals. I was lucky,” the Argentine let it be known.
He says that apart from luck, he also owes his career to God. “I believe that he decided that all this would happen to me. I never dreamed that I could ever be considered one of the best footballers,” Messi added.
But he said he does not attach much importance to the fact that he is considered the best player in history. It doesn’t change his attitude.
At 34, the PSG star continues to amaze with his behaviour. And although he does not like to be a role model and does not like to give advice, it would certainly be good to take his example in many ways.
