I felt like a 13-year-old boy. Alcaraz fails in the quarterfinals of the Masters in Miami
The prestigious tennis event in Miami has had another big surprise. Carlos Alcaraz in Florida will not follow up his recent triumph in Indian Wells. How did he lose this chance and who remains in the fight for the valuable title?
The prestigious tennis event in Miami has had another big surprise. Carlos Alcaraz in Florida will not follow up his recent triumph in Indian Wells. How did he lose this chance and who remains in the fight for the valuable title?
Carlos Alcaraz in Miami
He had a chance to win the popular Sunshine Double here. But Carlos Alcaraz will not be able to add the Miami title to the Indian Wells one. At least not this year.
The Spaniard has been going through the Masters tournament very well so far, not losing a set in any of his matches. But he lost two in the quarterfinals against Bulgarian Dimitrov.
Alcaraz was a big favourite in this duel, but he lost deservedly. He lost his serve four times in the match. He converted only one of his five break points.
The world number two admitted after the match that she didn’t know how to play during the match with Dimitrov. Last year’s Wimbledon winner compared himself to a 13-year-old boy.
It should be appreciated that Alcaraz was not looking for excuses. After all, the Spaniard has shaken off the results slump at the end of last season and will be the number one favorite in the upcoming clay part of the year.
Who will win in Miami?
That leaves the last four tennis players in contention at the Florida Masters. The biggest favourite is this year’s phenomenon, the Italian Sinner.
However, he has to beat Medvedev in the semi-finals in a repeat of last year’s final in Miami. These two also played in the final of the Australian Open this year, where the Italian was more successful.
The other finalist will come from the match between Germany’s Zverev and Dimitrov. Zverev is facing his third semi-final of the year and although he lost both previous ones against the Bulgarian, he will be the favourite.
