Linda Noskova is in top form and exudes confidence at the Adelaide tournament. One favourite after another finishes on her racket and only the world number five, Aryna Sabalenka of Belarus, stands in the way of her first major title among adults.

Noskova has been playing the local event since qualifying. She has beaten Kalinskaya, Potapova, Kasatkina, Liu, Azarenka, the former world number one and lastly in the semi-finals Jabaurova, the current world number two!

These are all great tennis names. How amazing, even shocking, are the performances of the young Czech is evidenced by the fact that out of the six matches played she was the odds-on favourite only once.

In the other five duels, she always defeated clearly favored opponents! Right from the edge of the new season, another fairy tale story is being written for Czech women’s tennis.

Linda herself couldn’t even believe it. “I certainly didn’t expect to play the semi-finals here and to have won against Kasatkina and Azarenka.

I just came here to play the qualification, I don’t even know what I’m doing here now,” laughed the eighteen year old said in a post-match interview.

Linda entered the tournament as the 102nd player in the rankings. She is currently 56th on the live ranking and she may not stop there if she manages to dominate the final.

She can try that for the first time in her career at a tournament this big thanks to her semi-final win against Jabeur.

The battle for the title starts tomorrow, January 8 at 6:30 a.m. our time!
