Hypocrite Chimaev? He spoke of peace, but in his corner were the sons of a war criminal and dictator, whom he publicly asked for permission to fight for Palestine
Khamzat Chimaev has had the biggest fight of his career and he has done it victoriously. After beating Kamara Usman on points, he took to the cage for more post-fight talk. He moved the world with what he said in English. What he said in his native tongue was ignored by the world at that moment. But now his words are being discussed more and more in the media.
He’s one of the biggest stars in the UFC, he’s got a lot of potential, but he’s also a problem for the organization. The reason is simple. He doesn’t have a Swedish passport, he has Russian citizenship, and in the current situation where Russia is attacking Ukraine, it’s a problem to get on US soil.
But the catch is also that Khamzat Chimaev has an all-too-close relationship with Chechen dictator Ramzan Kadyrov, who is sanctioned for war crimes. It is Russia’s aggression in Ukraine and the global reaction to it that has caused him to leave Sweden.
In addition, the conflict between Israel and Palestine is now raging, and on social media he compared the Israeli Prime Minister to Adolf Hitler. He received a lot of support in the Muslim world, the rest shook their heads in incomprehension.
But he was in Abu Dhabi to show his sporting prowess. He defeated Kamara Usman, and although his performance at the UFC 294 gala wasn’t exactly the most sovereign, he deserves credit. At least from a sporting perspective. He fought two extra rounds with a broken hand.
After the fight, Khimaev moved the world with his cage statement. At least in English. The rest of it in his native tongue wasn’t that much of an issue until the Russian media, and then the Western media, started to take notice.
Troublemaker Chimaev wants to go to war?
There was nothing wrong with the Chechen native’s English statement. On the contrary. He talked about how he didn’t feel good about the match because of what was happening in the world. He condemned wars and especially the killing of children. But what is even more incomprehensible is his relationship with Kadyrov, who is responsible for many innocent lives, including those of children.
Moreover, Khamzat Khimaev went to the cage in Abu Dhabi accompanied by Kadyrov’s sons, whom he had cornered, which is again very hypocritical. Moreover, in his native language, he asked the Chechen dictator to give him a gun and permission to go and fight for Palestine.
“Our leader, may God be with you. With your support, there is no problem for me to fight in the octagon. If you give me the vote, I swear that I will be the first to go and fight for Palestine. Please give me a weapon and allow me to go fight,” Chimaev expressed, according to The Press United. The fighter’s words were picked up by RT, a Russian channel.
It’s beginning to look like Chimaev is still looking. After all, in the past he fled to Sweden just to escape Kadyrov’s regime, and he certainly didn’t act like a typical Muslim in the MMA world. Dagestanis have been very critical of him.
But now he’s left Sweden, accepted sporting citizenship of the United Arab Emirates, and now he’d like to fight for Palestine, while having close relations with a Chechen war criminal.
What’s next for the talented fighter’s career?
