Humiliation for the Slovaks? More fans came to the Ukraine match in Trnava than to the last Slovak national team matches
The club season is over, but football is still being played. The EURO 2024 qualifying period is currently underway in Europe, with Ukraine taking on Malta on Monday evening at the Slovakian Asylum in Trnava. A very good attendance came to the match.

Ukraine as a country has been going through a very critical period for more than a year now due to Russian terrorism. However, the Ukrainian football team is doing well in the current national window.
First, on 12 June, they drew 3-3 with Hans Flick’s men in a friendly on German soil, but the next two matches were already important, as they were qualifiers for the Euro, which Germany will host next year.
On Friday, the Ukraine footballers played in North Macedonia, which they managed to beat mainly thanks to a great performance by Mykhaylo Mudryk 3:2, despite being two goals down. On Monday, however, they had a “home” match against Malta.
Because of what is happening in Ukraine, the match was played in Slovakia, specifically in Trnava. Mudryk and co. won 1:0 thanks to a penalty.
It is worth mentioning, however, the very decent crowd support. 7,543 spectators attended the match, which is a really great number considering the fact that it was played in Trnava.
What would the Slovak national team give for that, one would like to say. The Slovaks have played their last two home games in front of smaller crowds. Only 3 523 spectators came to Trnava for the match against Luxembourg in March.
Three days later, Bosnia and Herzegovina was the Slovak national team’s opponent at Tehelné Pole in Bratislava. The match was attended by 6 052 fans.
