Huddersfield have an important game on Friday in their fight for promotion to the Premier League, they welcome relegated Barnsley at home and they need to win if they want to challenge for second place. What to expect from the game and what to bet on?
Huddersfield are doing well, winning three of their last four games and still have a theoretical chance of direct promotion. However, they are four points behind second-placed Bournemouth with two games to play. They have a comfortable eight-point lead on seventh place.
Barnsley, on the other hand, are the big disappointment of the season. Last year’s Premier League play-off participant is last in the table this year and will surely be relegated to League One. So after last year’s dream season, a cruel sobering has come.
The home side rely on Danny Ward, the Championship seasoned striker has netted thirteen goals and assisted two. Danel Sinani has been on a rampage in midfield, with the Luxembourg offensive midfielder making six saves and three assists.
It’s hard to praise anyone on the Barnsley side, except perhaps striker Carlton Morris, who kept their hopes alive with nine goals and three assists. Other mainstays like Callum Styles remained below expectations in terms of performance.
Huddersfield have relied on a goal scoring attack, scoring fifty-five goals already, only four teams in the league are doing better. He has netted six goals in the last three rounds.
Barnsley can dream of similar numbers. With thirty-one goals scored, it has the Championship’s worst attack, scoring more than one goal in only one of the last nine rounds.
Considering the form of the home side and the fact that Barnsley have nothing to play for anymore, I think Huddersfield will win and at least two goals will fall.
