Viktoria Plzeň has one last important step to take. If they beat Karabakh at home, they will play in the Champions League group stage. Michal Bílek is trying to find a way to surprise his opponents.
Bílek is a pragmatist, if he didn’t have to, he wouldn’t change anything. But captain Lukáš Hejda was sidelined in Azerbaijan and Plzeň has to decide how to put together a new stopper.
Or a trio, as Viktoria’s coach has not ruled out this possibility. “We have two elevens, one of them is for three defenders. I can decide in the morning at the preparation just before the match, ” Bílek revealed at the press conference.
Viktoria brought in stopper Václav Jemelka just before the match with Karabakh, who could be a great replacement for Hejda. But he played his first game at left back and did well, so Bílek will probably want to keep him in that position.
“Venca did very well at left back, there is a high probability that he will start at that position,” said Bílek.
An option is the summer signing from Slavia, Mohamed Tijani. The lanky stopper played a decent game against Hradec Králové and has more experience than Čihák. However, a three-stopper lineup with Pernica, Tijani and Jemelka is also possible.
First lineup option:
Staněk
Havel – Pernica – Tijani – Jemelka
Kalvach – Bucha
Kopic – Sýkora – Mosquera
Chorý
Second lineup option::
Staněk
Pernica – Tijani – Jemelka
Kopic – Kalvach – Bucha – Sýkora – Havel
Chorý – Mosquera
