It was 23 October 2019 and Slavia hosted Barcelona in Eden, where the legendary Lionel Messi was playing at the time. Although they lost 1:2 on home soil to the favourite team, they left an extremely good impression. The highlight of the whole match from the point of view of the Slavs was the end of the match.

Sešívani forced the Catalan club to defend with unprecedented effort and literally locked Barcelona around their own sixteen. Unfortunately, the coveted equaliser into Marc-André ter Stegen’s net did not come.

Slavia’s line-up against Barcelona did not lack current Kladivar players Tomáš Souček and Vladimír Coufal. Interestingly, current Jablonec stopper Jaroslav Zelený played half-time in the midfield.

By the way, as far as statistical data is concerned, the Sešiovans surpassed or at least equalled the then Barcelona, packed with world-class stars, in many aspects.

Slavia literally declassed Barcelona in terms of running, the players in the white and red jerseys ran 16 kilometres more. That’s the equivalent of having an extra player and a half on the pitch with you.

Jindřich Trpišovský’s charges outplayed the football giant by 23 to 13! Barcelona in turn made more passes and won possession.

Now to the topic, check out the breathtaking minute when the famous Barcelona literally knocked the result. The best moment? Arguably David Hovorka, who sent Lionel Messi on a so-called “steam”.

This is something that must amuse every Sešiovan fan. The only regret is that everyone always remembers only the result in the final. Will Slavia ever be able to replicate such a feat again? Let’s hope so!

“The first 7 minutes and the last 15 minutes of the second half were absolutely top football played by Slavia. It’s not that Barcelona played badly, they only played what the SKS allowed them to play in those phases,” commented one of the Slavie fans on the video.

“Yes, the absolute best minute of the match. I never thought I would see Barcelona squeezed in the whitewash,” wrote another.
