In the second leg of the Champions League, AC Milan lost 0:1 to Leverkusen. However, the fans of the Italian team do not like some of the referee’s statements, even asking how much money the German team gave the referee before the match. The Czech national team also saw the situation from the bench.

- In the second leg of the Champions League, Leverkusen beat AC Milan 1:0
- The Italians don’t like some of the Swiss referee’s statements
- Fans are in revolt especially over the missed penalty on Loftus-Cheek
They feel damaged. The seven-time Champions League winner slept through the first half in Leverkusen and only woke up after Victor Bonifacio’s home goal. But AC Milan players were at least reaching for a draw at the end, but in their opinion the referee robbed them of it.
After the final whistle, several players of the Italian team ran at the Swiss Schärer and AC coach Paulo Fonseca also discussed. The visitors particularly disliked Pierre Hincapie’s intervention on Ruben Loftus-Cheek in stoppage time.
“For me it is strange that VAR did not intervene. They have it in front of them on the screen and they don’t react at all. The referee doesn’t go to look at the situation at all. I don’t understand what the technology is for?” the Kicker website quotes Fonseca as saying after the match.
Referee deprives AC Milan of a penalty
Also thanks to this situation, the 19-time champion of their country is still without a point in the new edition of the Champions League. In the opening match AC lost 1:3 to Liverpool at the San Siro. Logically, the fans did not like the whole situation and immediately took to social media.
“How much did you give the referee before the game?” asked a user with the nickname milantifosi on the social network X under the post in which Bayer announced their victory. The reaction didn’t take long.
“Oh no, what happened again?” responded Jonas. The Milan fan immediately explained. “Oh, it was pure farce. On two occasions the video referee should have acted and never once intervened. Why?” replied milantifosi.
“The intervention on Loftus-Cheek at the end of the match was a foul, but not in the penalty area,” explained another user with the nickname tristan. It was a borderline situation, but according to the footage, the penalty should have been whistled.
However, Swiss referee Schärer did not address the situation and Leverkusen celebrated the win with Patrik Schick and Matej Kovar on the bench. Neither of the Czech national team players entered the match.
