Conor McGregor’s fight on Sunday is widely speculated not to either, as the Irishman broke his ankle badly and has only won once in his last four fights. But how much did he and his opponent Dustin Poirier earn for the fight?
Sunday morning saw the third fight between Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier, with the American enjoying victory for the second time.
This was because the Irish fighter mis-stepped and broke his ankle late in the first round. However, because of the injury, he will almost certainly get a rematch.
But that will be a long time coming, as Poirier will now have a title fight to win the belt that every MMA fighter wants.
How much did both fighters earn for the fight? No official figures are known, but there are fairly accurate amounts floating around the internet based on information from the fighters or estimates from the commissions.
First of all, McGregor, who is the biggest star of the organization, his payout is $5 million per fight and another $11,000 for media duties.
Poirier has only a fifth of his earnings, receiving $1 million per fight and $21,000 for media duties. It should be added, however, that this is not net earnings.
Even fighters have to tax the winnings and use it to pay for the entire team, or gyms, etc. According to MMA Shorties, David Dvorak said he had 40% of his paycheck left over.
