How is that possible? CT Sport’s sound engineers spoiled the first half for viewers with poor synchronisation of sound and picture

The Czech national team lost the World Cup barrage match in Qatar (0::1), but their performance was not disappointing. What the Czech viewers could not be more pleased about was the sound side of the CT Sport broadcast in the first half.
From the very first minutes of Thursday’s match, it was obvious that the connection between the Czech Republic and Sweden’s Solna was not working ideally. The commentators Jaromír Bosák and Erich Brabec were hard to hear, often not being understood at all.
But what was more frustrating for the audience was the poor synchronisation of sound and image. They noticed it for the first time during the disallowed goal by Jan Kuchta. At that moment the sound was ahead of the picture by about three seconds.
This threw the Czech fans for a loop. Because of the delayed image, the goal moment looked like the referee had blown the whistle before the action was finished, thus before Kuchta finished.
In that case, the situation could not have been examined by VAR, but referee Michael Oliver did not blow the whistle until after the action had finished, so he could discuss the whole situation with his assistants. In any case, the directors of the sound on CT Sport surprised the viewers brilliantly.
The sound editors tried to resolve the situation, but they moved the sound too far forward and the picture was behind for a change. Many viewers complained on social media and did not understand how such a thing was possible during a public television broadcast.
The challenging first half for the Czech Television stations also affected both commentators. Bosák and Brabec completely dropped out of the broadcast for a few minutes, while the trio Pavel Čapek, Luděk Zelenka, Karel Poborský took the floor from the studio.
The second half and overtime were broadcast in better quality. Nevertheless, this is certainly not a good sign for CT Sport, especially when it was the most important match of the Czech national football team in the last ten years.
