Slavia won the first game of the third round of the Conference Finals, beating Panathinaikos 2:0. However, it’s only halfway through, as matches on hot Greek soil are unpredictable. What result do the European sites that focus on analysis and previews expect?

Panathinaikos relies on a solid defence and almost didn’t score in the last games of last season and in the preparation. They came to Eden with the same goal, and from the first minute it was clear that they were going for a goalless draw.

Slavia eventually scored two goals against their opponents, firstly Ivan Schranz scored just before half-time, Moses Usor sealed the victory in the second half. There could have been even more goals, especially in the second half Slavia had a big advantage.

The suspension of star striker Sebastian Palacios, who was shown a red card in Eden, is certainly good news for the Susians. In the 40th minute he tried to simulate a penalty, for which he saw a yellow card and since he already had one, he said goodbye to the third place in the Conference League.

He is not alone in this though, at the start of the second half Eduardo Santos saw a red card for holding up Andraz Sporar in the middle of the pitch who would have been rushing the goal himself.

Jindřich Trpišovský must then address the question of who he will put in place of the Brazilian giant. The Ukrainian stopper Taras Kacharaba, who also played a league game against Zlín and is the only stopper in the Slavie squad after Santos and Ousou.

However, the coach of Slavia is more likely to reach for Tomáš Holeš, who played his first game at stopper and is very reliable. However, David Jurasek, who scored two goals and played a great game over the weekend, is missing from the roster for the Conference Preliminary Round.

Slavia will have a hell of a time in Greece, the fans can create a stormy atmosphere and they are hungry for the cups they haven’t been in for the last 3 years.
