The final score of 2::2 puts all the cards in the hands of the Welsh. If they do not falter significantly in the last three qualifying matches, they will secure second place in Group E. But now let’s take a look at the numbers together, which will help us to reveal the individual performances of the Czech players in full nakedness.

The match was closely watched by the prestigious WhoScored statistics server, which usually underrates goalkeepers. And the Czech Republic’s match against Wales was no different! The fantastic Tomas Vaclik was given a 6.26 rating and the erring Danny Ward on the other side earned only a slightly below average 5.8 rating.

The highest rated Czech player was Patrik Schick with a rating of 6.94. During the game he had 35 touches of the ball, made two key passes and shot three times. He added 3 successful dribbles, the most of any player in the entire match.

The second best performance according to the statistics was by Ales Matějů (6.85), who filled in for the injured Vladimir Coufal. He had the second highest number of touches with the ball (74) after Aaron Ramsey (75). His passing success rate was at a respectable 86%.

Matějů scored one dribble and was fouled 4 times. Defensively, he won two duels for the ball (foot to foot) and also intercepted the ball once and returned it to the Czech team’s possession.

Spartan wings

Prague’s Sparta have the third and fourth highest rated players! Adam Hložek (6.76) and Jakub Pešek (6.74) earned almost identical ratings.

Spartan megatalent Hložek had one shot on goal, one key pass and 2 successful dribbles. On the other hand, his passing success rate was at just 60%.

Jakub Pesek earned an above-average rating mainly because of the goal he scored and because of his running activity. Otherwise, he had the fewest touches (30) with the ball on the entire field and his pass success rate was also relatively low (62.5%).

Weaker performances of Kral and Kalas

Alex Král (6.22) and Tomáš Kalas (6.18) were the lowest scorers for the Czech team. The unplayed Kral simply did not play well, he had a lot of dropped balls and few forward passes, yet Alex’s passing success rate was 74%, which is not the worst.

Tomas Kalas even had the best pass success rate of the whole team (91%), but the defense conceded two goals, which is a lot for a statistical portal. Kalas mainly didn’t gain any possession of the ball during the whole game after a duel (foot to foot) and won only one header against the tidy Moore.
