European League
Tomáš Pekhart did not make the starting line-up for Legia Warsaw, but was a key figure in the match against Spartak Moscow. As a substitute, he was fouled in the setup in the whitewash at 0:1 and the head referee pointed to the penalty spot.
Pekhart himself took the ball, but did not beat the visitors’ goalkeeper. A point for the draw would not have helped Legia to climb out of fourth place, but it played a key role for Spartak. The Russian side will go on as group winners, but in the event of a draw, they would have finished third and would have been facing the Europa League play-offs.
In Group D, there were two Czechs. Tomáš Vaclík made several good saves in the match against Antwerp, but it was not enough for points and Olympiakos had to settle for second place after a 0:1 defeat.
Fenerbahce had already secured the third place in the group before the match started, so the players of the wider squad also got a chance. The Turkish team with Filip Novak in the line-up played a valuable 1:1 draw at home against Frankfurt and closed the group with six points.
West Ham were assured of promotion from the first place after the fifth round, so David Moyes let the players of the wider squad into the game on Thursday. Alex Král was on the bench for the 0:1 loss to Dinamo Zagreb, Vladimir Coufal remained on the bench and Tomas Soucek was not even in the squad.
The European Conference League
Josef Husbauer played the full ninety minutes for Anorthosis Famagusta, the Cypriot club is out of the group after a 1-1 draw with Partizan Belgrade.
Jaromír Zmrhal was on the losing side of Slovan Bratislava’s 0:2 defeat to Copenhagen. Jan Lecjkas represented Omonia Nicosia in the match against Kairat Almaty. No goal was scored and both clubs are out of the European scene.
