Horváth before Bayern: Staněk won’t catch, it will be a baptism of fire for Tvrdona

Viktoria Plzeň have the third match of the Champions League group stage ahead of them. This time in Munich they will challenge the leading Bayern, who are one of the biggest favourites to win the trophy. What did assistant coach Pavel Horváth say before the duel?

Viktoria Plzeň will try for the third time to get a point in a tough Champions League group. The injured goalkeeper Jindřich Staněk will travel with the team to Munich.

“Jindra Stanek will probably be out, he has a health problem, he is still in pain. It is a very specific injury for him. Jindra is a bit of a loner, his pain threshold is a bit shifted. I’m sure he would like to catch, but he probably won’t be ready for this game.

We’ll see how he looks in a few days for the next league game,“ Pavel Horváth told iSport. He had his best years with Viktoria, he led them in the Champions League as captain and now he can enjoy it from the position of a coach.

Staňek’s replacement, however, put on a good show in the last game at Bohemka. Marián Tvrdoň saved Viktoria at least a point and was the best player of the match.

“He made some great saves, he kept the team in it. We believe that he will continue to do well. To save a game like this is a baptism of fire for him. When you were catching in the second league in Ústí nad Labem a year ago, this is great. Football writes such stories, so it’s great,” he added.

The result against Bayern will most likely be on Tvrdona’s shoulders. A week ago, he certainly didn’t expect to be involved in such a match.
