The Czech national football team will be deprived of two strikers in the following matches. As expected, Patrik Schick, who is missing due to injury and his teammate Adam Hložek will help his team in preparation in the USA.

Coach Jaroslav Šilhavý had to deal with big inconveniences. Due to the clash of matches he could not rely on players from elite Czech clubs, so there are many newcomers in the team.

But now he also lost two main strikers, Patrik Schick and Adam Hložek. The absence of the former was expected, he missed the last Bundesliga games due to injury.

However, Hložek will not be at the national team meeting either. He is healthy, but the German side took advantage of the fact that they are not obliged to release him for the national team this time.

Together with his team he flew to the USA, where Leverkusen will play the St. Louis reserve team on the occasion of the opening of the new stadium of the local club.

“Leverkusen has finally decided to take Adam Hložek to the United States to prepare. Since this date is not on the official FIFA international calendar, Leverkusen has the right not to release the player, and we have no choice but to respect that.

The situation around Patrik Schick was such that we were waiting to see if he could recover from his injury. We were counting on him playing the first game against the Faroe Islands. Unfortunately, he is not well, just like Martin Doležal,” announced manager Tomáš Pešír via the national team’s website.

Apart from this attacking trio, Tomáš Pekhart, Antonín Růsek and Jan Navrátil will arrive. “We know Tomas Pekhart well and we know what we can expect from him and that he will help us. Moreover, he knows the environment in Gaziantep, where he is based and where we will play on Saturday.

As for Antonín Růsk and Jan Navrátil, both are proving their performance in the league. So there are currently four players from Olomouc in the nomination – we believe that not only the local fans will want to support them,” added Pešír.

The Czech national team will play its first match against Faroe Islands on Wednesday at 6 pm. Three days later they will play Turkey at the same time.
