The Czech national football team celebrates its second win since the end of the Euros. This time the team of coach Jaroslav Šilhavy defeated a weak Belarus, but the match did not offer much football beauty. What did the coach himself say about it?
The Czechs went into the match with Belarus with a clear goal. The duty was to win and score more goals. The first goal was successful, the second not so much.
At the end of the match the score was 0:2, two Czech goals were scored by Patrik Schick and Adam Hložek. That’s all the Czechs could do.
“We were losing simple balls on the border of the opponent’s penalty area, which allowed them to counter-attack, which was dangerous, but the defence managed it all. We were more compact and could have added more goals in the second half after we reshuffled our line-up. But we will take the 2:0 victory,” said coach Šilhavý at the press conference.
However, the Czech team’s performance has not been good lately. Soucek and co. have won only twice since the Euros, always against a weak Belarus.
So they still have nothing in their hands in the group. Wales have the same number of points, but the match against Belgium is still up for grabs. So we must hope for a loss.
How did Šilhavy like the performance of the two young midfielders? “Adam Hložek asserted himself more from the side in the second half. Michal Sadilek and his play in the second half met our expectations. He did a lot of work and Adam was a bit relieved because he was more comfortable from the side this time,” he added.
