Hložek has to deal with his future in winter! He hardly plays in Leverkusen, with Schick’s return it will be even harder

Bayer Leverkusen are in excellent form in the new season. They are currently second only by one point behind leaders Bayern and the Czech footballers could be happy about that, but neither of them are in the starting line-up. Adam Hložek in particular should address his situation, as he is losing valuable time in Leverkusen.

When Adam Hložek came to Bayer Leverkusen, both the fans of the new club and those of Spartan were happy, wishing him the brightest possible future.

His first season was quite successful, with Hložek starting 29 league games and scoring five times. Before the new season, however, Victor Boniface arrived and his role changed rapidly.

The 22-year-old Nigerian striker has settled into the Leverkusen attack and is scoring goal after goal, so Hložek only has to watch his back. But let’s go back to the beginning of the season.

Bayer played their first competitive match in the cup at Teutonia Ottesen and won 8:0. Hložek didn’t get on the pitch until the 69th minute, yet he scored twice and added an assist.

He couldn’t have asked for a better start, but he played only two minutes against Leipzig in the league, then 10 against Mönchengladbach. He wasn’t even in the starting line-up against Darmstadt, but managed to score in the 11th minute.

A national break followed and after that Leverkusen travelled to Bayern, where Hložek only saw the pitch for a minute. He got more space in the Europa League with Häcken, but didn’t add anything to the stats in twenty minutes.

The last game was played on Sunday and he didn’t play long at home against Heidenheim either, spending seven minutes on the pitch. All in all, Hložek has to think about whether it actually makes sense for him in Leverkusen.

His time is precious, and at twenty-one he needs to play regularly to prove that he is an excellent footballer. However, that won’t be the case at Bayer, as he probably won’t get any chances after Patrik Schick’s recovery.

So a winter loan move is a real possibility. The best option would be for him to go to another Bundesliga team where he has already made a name for himself. On the other hand, a return to the Czech Republic, even though some fans would like to see it, is completely unrealistic.
