HJK Helsinki vs. Viktoria Plzen: Preview and betting tips

The European competitions are getting underway again and Viktoria Plzeň have the opening match of the second preliminary round of the Champions League. The Czech champions travel to Finland to take on HJK Helsinki. Who will they face and what to bet on?

Viktoria Plzeň were big outsiders to win the title before the start of the 2021/22 season, but a consistent finish has guaranteed them the title and they have a chance to challenge for the Champions League once again.

Her opponent will be Finnish club HJK Helsinki. In the north, the spring-autumn system is in place, so the Finnish league is in full swing. HJK is in second place behind the first place KuPS (Kuopion Palloseura).

The loss is only three points, but HJK have played one more game. They are now fighting for the Champions League, having knocked out the Latvian club RFS, based in Riga, in the first preliminary round. The result was not convincing, however, as they only won promotion after penalties.

It will be the first tough match for Viktoria since mid-May. In the preparation, they defeated Klatovy, Karlovy Vary, Slovan Bratislava and Tabor in the first time at home, but during the training camp they drew with Botosani and Besiktas and fell to St. Truiden.

But what is worth betting on? Viktoria have struggled at the end in recent games, but with the exception of one game they have had a fairly consistent defence.

That’s why I would choose to bet on fewer goals, as the opening game will be more cautious. Odds of 1.76 on less than 2.5 goals is quite an interesting choice.
