Who else but Max Verstappen? The reigning world champion dominated the last Canadian Grand Prix and claimed his sixth victory in eight races this year. In addition to equalling Ayrton Senna, Red Bull also recorded a significant milestone.

It was a clear-cut affair at the top of the standings, but behind him things were happening. We covered the Canadian Grand Prix in more detail earlier, specifically in our report. But for now, let’s take a look at two milestones that fell on the Gilles Villeneuve circuit.

Verstappen matched the Formula One championship record of the famous Ayrton Senna with his victory on Sunday.

The 25-year-old Dutch Red Bull driver achieved his 41st victory and it is only a matter of time before he surpasses the legendary Brazilian.

For Verstappen, it is also his sixth victory in eight races this season. He won the opening round of the season in Bahrain, then Australia and now celebrates his fourth consecutive victory after Miami, Monaco, Spain and Canada.

And, as the Czech F1 Sport website reports, Verstappen won his third consecutive start-finish race. The world champion of the last two years has not let any of his rivals into first place for 224 laps. The last 10 laps in Miami and the entire Monaco, Spanish and Canadian Grand Prix.

Verstappen was almost ten seconds behind second-placed Fernando Alonso in the final Canadian Grand Prix standings.

And even though he was struggling to get his tyres at the right temperature, he was still one of the fastest on the track. But it’s not just Verstappen who has reached a major historical milestone in Canada.

The Austrian team entered the world of the queen of motorsport in 2005 and in a short space of time has established itself as one of the best teams in F1 today.

It was not an easy race

“I’m very happy. It wasn’t an easy race because the tyres didn’t get into the ideal temperature window,” said Verstappen after the Canadian GP, who was also quoted by Racing News 365.

“Compared to Friday it was very cold and it was very slippery. But we managed to win again, to win the 100th grand prix as a team is incredible. It’s amazing, I never expected to be at these numbers myself,” Verstappen added.
