Hill on Walker: I’m gonna beat the shit out of that guy! I’ll fight anybody, I don’t want to wait till August
Last June, Jiri Prochazka really stirred up the waters of the UFC welterweight division. Just when fans were looking forward to a rematch, a nasty injury and a long layoff came. Now Procházka is gradually returning, but he is still months away from a fight. Jamahal Hill doesn’t want to wait too long.
Last June, Jiri Prochazka really stirred up the waters of the UFC welterweight division. Just when fans were looking forward to a rematch, a nasty injury and a long layoff came. Now Procházka is gradually making his comeback, but he is still months away from a fight. Jamahal Hill doesn’t want to wait too long.
Late last year, some very negative news came out. Jiri Prochazka seriously injured his shoulder and his rematch with Glover Teixeira was on ice. He lost the welterweight championship belt, which was in the meantime contested between Jan Blachowicz and Magomed Ankalaev.
The bout ended in a draw and Dana White was so upset with the performance of both that he decided that the pair of Glover Teixeira and Jamahal Hill would fight for the belt almost a month later. Hill was the winner after a convincing performance and he is looking forward to showing Prochazka his qualities.
The latter spoke to MMA Junkie about his next opponent in an interview, and he feels like the favorite. “I was just watching his fights recently. He’s not that kind of guy. I can’t wait to get him in there.
I really can’t wait to get him in there to see what it’s like. It’s going to be fun. I’m gonna beat the crap out of this guy,” he said. But when will this fight ever happen? Current information points to September or October, but Hill doesn’t want to wait too long.
“I heard he might be ready for the Boston tournament in August. I hope we can make it happen and sign a contract,” he added. But he also admitted that he wouldn’t mind if someone else was his opponent, although Procházka deserves it more at the moment.
“I don’t want to wait longer than August. I don’t want to wait for the whole summer. Whether it’s Jiri or whoever else comes forward, I’m ready. I’ll fight anyone, but right now it makes the most sense to me. The others will have to show that they deserve a chance,” concluded Hill.
So the real question is how the situation will turn out. Walk most likely won’t fight in August, he needs a long quality preparation, which he proved with his long wait for Teixeira.
