He’s had one foot in Manchester United, now Grealish is showing his skills under Guardiola

Before his move to Manchester City, Jack Grealish was a highly sought-after commodity by many European big clubs. In 2020, he already had one foot in Manchester United, but that eventually came to an end and he is now running around the English turf in a light blue jersey.
Grealish has been drawing attention to himself for quite some time, however, the 2019/20 season was a breakout season as he notched 10 goals and 8 assists in 41 starts. Moreover, Aston Villa managed to stay in the Premier League after their promotion from the Championship.
“I was very close to signing, but in the end nothing happened. So I signed a new contract with Aston Villa. And it was a win-win situation because I had a fantastic season and Villa got their £100million,” Grealish revealed in an interview with the Daily Telegraph.
Salvation in England’s top competition was key to further growth. Aston Villa’s management invested heavily in the club once again and the traditional English side finished the 2020/21 season in a remarkable 11th place.
Grealish helped to achieve this with 7 goals and 12 assists. However, this time he did it in just 27 games, having been out for virtually the entire second half of the season due to injury.
He left Aston Villa with a record of 213 games played, in which he managed to score 32 times and added 43 assists.
After his move to Manchester City, which cost his new employers £100 million, many feared that he would find it very difficult to break into Pep Guardiola’s already packed line-up.
However, Grealish has been relatively successful and is one of the most played wingers. In the current season, the 26-year-old versatile midfielder has already played 15 games in which he has managed to score twice and assisted on three more goals. In addition, he is one of the Citizens’ 5 highest rated players.
