He’s gonna limit the Playstation and become a champion. World No. 3 enters the Australian Open with a new philosophy
In sports, it’s the little things that make the difference. A single moment can decide a great success and vice versa. With what vision does the third player in the ATP rankings enter the new season? Why was last season so special for him and what is he counting on for the next one? The Australian Open will definitely be a big test.

Rollercoaster 2023
One tennis player prefers clay and the other feels at home on a hard surface. One relies on a cannon serve and the other on a reliable game from the baseline. But the goal is the same for everyone. To be the best.
Which is a problem, especially if Novak Djokovic is around. Everything revolves around him, the greatest tennis player of all time. Probably. But why not finally beat him in a big match? You’re not missing much towards that goal.
In this position is the likeable Russian. Daniil Medvedev is his own man. And he’s had a great tennis season. He’s won a prestigious clay court tournament, which he loves as an orthodox Sparta Slavia fan, and he’s even played a grand slam final.
Still, at twenty-seven, you want to grow and you want grand slam titles. Not just to pick up crumbs from Djokovic’s table. And the two-time Australian Open finalist has a new philosophy to fall back on.
A vision for the Australian Open
Daniil Medvedev feels he has achieved great things in the past year. And objectively, we have to give him credit. However, success is decided on the court and the most valuable thing is Grand Slam tournaments. The first one of the current year starts traditionally in Melbourne.
And Medvedev enters the opening grand slam of the season with a new vision. He plans to spend less time doing stupid things. Like a phone and a Playstation.
“In the parts of the day when I dedicate myself to this (Playstation and phone) I will think more about my tennis,” says the Moscow native . After all, who among us would not benefit from this in general.
The fact is, this guy doesn’t deserve to be in the shadow of Djokovic and Alcaraz. Why shouldn’t he be the one to disrupt the stereotypical thinking along the lines that Djokovic will be replaced on the throne by Alcaraz or Sinner?
We will see how the new Medvedev will enter the Australian Open and the 2024 season in the coming days. Either way the Australian Open is ready to start.
