A year and change. Cristiano Ronaldo returned to Manchester United last summer, but now he could be changing address again. One of the best footballers in history would love to move, where could it be?

The reason Ronaldo wants to leave Manchester United is simple. The Red Devils have not made it through to the Champions League and will only play in the Europa League next season. And Ronaldo can’t play that.

Historically the best player in the Champions League and the holder of all possible records in this competition, he will want to stretch his record in the last years of his career, not fight in the “B” league.

That’s why journalist Fabrizio Romano reported over the weekend that Ronaldo wants to leave Manchester United and his agent Jorge Mendes is already looking for possible solutions. Where could the 36-year-old striker be heading?

Chelsea

A bit of a surprise, but probably the most realistic option at the same time. Earlier, renowned journalist David Ornstein brought the news that Chelsea are interested in the Portuguese, moreover, among all the interested parties he has a big advantage. He has plenty of money and a vacant spot at the tip of the attack, which has been a long-standing weakness of the Blues.

Real Madrid

Every time Ronaldo’s departure is mentioned, the subject of a return to Real Madrid comes up. But that move is not very realistic. President Florentino Pérez has already closed that chapter and both he and coach Ancelotti ruled out a return for Ronaldo last year.

Moreover, Los Blancos won the double thanks to their teamwork and team concept of the game and with the arrival of Ronaldo, everything would have to be rethought and played more on him. The best player in the world at the moment, Karim Benzema, would be a bit overlooked again and the development of youngsters Vinícius and Rodrygo could be stuck.

Bayern Munich

A transfer to Bayern would make a lot of sense. Gunner Robert Lewandowski is likely to leave the Munich side, and what other penalty killer would be better to replace him than Ronaldo? But the German champion has denied interest in the Portuguese in recent weeks, but the summer is still very much on.

PSG

PSG are also mentioned among the favourites due to their unlimited budget, plus many fans would surely like to see Messi and Ronaldo play together. At the moment, however, this arrival is not very realistic, as the Parisians have the trio Messi – Neymar – Mbappé in attack.

However, there is still talk of Neymar leaving, so at that point the arrival of the Red Devils striker could be the order of the day. However, PSG management has also recently denied interest in Ronaldo.

Sporting Lisbon

If a move to a big club doesn’t work out, a return home will always be in play. Ronaldo himself has stated that he would like to finish his career at Sporting, where he shot to big-time football. He joined the club’s academy at the age of 12, was already playing for the A’s at 18 and was scouted by Manchester United. Sporting finished second in the league and will play in the Champions League next year.
