American canon Auston Matthews tied the best scoring performance of the millennium with his 65th goal of the season.

Hertl made his first start for Vegas
Czech forward Tomas Hertl made his debut in his new jersey in the Vancouver Canucks vs. Vegas Golden Knights (4:3). He scored one point for a pass, but he did not prevent his team from defeat. He appeared on the ice exactly one month after the trade.
The fact that Hertl is already fine is great news for the upcoming World Cup of Hockey, although Vegas is still fighting for a playoff spot. Hertl didn’t spare himself at all, playing over 20 minutes in this game and contributing a pass to Hanifin’s goal.
However, Vancouver showed its strength and turned the game in its favour before the end of the game. Conor Garland contributed to Vancouver’s victory with two goals, scoring his 100th goal in his 400th career overseas game.
Jack Eichel did his best for Vegas, contributing to all of his team’s goals. The Golden Knights are not doing well at the moment, losing for the fourth time in their last six games and making a potential playoff appearance very difficult.
Auston Matthews tied a millennium scoring record
In the game Toronto Maple Leafs vs Pittsburgh Penguins (3:2) the home team won the game in overtime. In addition, American goaltender Auston Matthews contributed to this victory with his 65th goal of the season. He tied the record for goals in the millennium, set by Russian forward and second all-time leading scorer Alexander Ovechkin in the 2007/08 season.
In addition, Matthews still holds out hope of breaking the 70-goal mark, which he is the first hockey player to do so since the 1992/93 season.
Only eight hockey players in NHL history have accomplished this feat, most recently a pair of hockey players in the aforementioned season. Alexander Mogilnyj and Teemu Selanne scored 76 goals.
However, the Maple Leafs’ victory did not come easy. The Penguins once again showed that they have greatly improved their game and stood up hard to the home team.
The game was decided in overtime at 61:30 by Jake McCabe. Matthews himself extended his point streak to 11 games in a row, in which he scored 10 goals and assisted on another 10.
