Henry’s shooting record in jeopardy. Will Giroud and Griezmann beat him later this year, or will Mbappé?
Thierry Henry was an exceptional footballer who still holds the French national team record for goals scored. The 1998 world champion scored 51 goals in 123 games, but he is only three behind Olivier Giroud and nine behind Antoine Griezmann. Kylian Mbappé is on 27 goals so far.

Olivier Giroud: 112 games – 48 goals
Giroud is having a very good start to this season, scoring 5 goals in 9 games in an AC Milan jersey. However, since we are talking about a 35 year old player here, there is not much time left for him to break Henry’s record.
He might get another opportunity to score in 3 days against Austria or on 25 September against Denmark. After that, it’s on to the World Cup, which France will kick off against Australia on 22 November.
Antoine Griezmann: 108 games – 42 goals
Griezmann is certainly not having a good season, since he cannot play as well as everyone at Atlético Madrid would like, which is due to the well-known contract he signed with Barcelona.
In the 282 minutes that the French striker has already played for the Madrid club this season, he has already managed to score 3 goals. The national team’s preparation for the World Cup will definitely be a liberation for him.
Kylian Mbappé:: 57 games – 27 goals
Mbappé is the furthest away from breaking Henry’s record, as he still needs to score 25 goals in the French national jersey. However, he managed to achieve roughly the first half of this record after 5 years, when he made his debut on 25 March 2017.
however, the 23-year-old PSG striker undoubtedly has many more achievements ahead of him and this record should be one of them. Meanwhile, he is just one goal short of the 10th top scorer Youri Djorkaeff.
The 5th top scorer in France, Karim Benzema, with 37 goals, should also be mentioned. However, he is currently suffering from a muscle injury, which should not prevent him from being nominated for the upcoming World Cup in Qatar.
