Hazard stays at Real Madrid! He wants to prove his quality, says Ancelotti
Happy Fourth? Eden Hazard’s first season at Real Madrid ended beyond expectations, the second one very badly and the third one can be called almost a fiasco. But the Belgian striker wants to break the curse and is staying in Madrid.
Happy Fourth? Eden Hazard’s first season at Real Madrid ended beyond expectations, the second one very badly and the third one can be called almost a fiasco. But the Belgian striker wants to break the curse and is staying in Madrid.
He came to the Spanish capital with the stamp of the Premier League’s best player. But he never developed his talents in La Liga. Hazard’s career at Real Madrid has been riddled with injuries and great disappointment.
Almost everyone reckoned that after this season Hazard would end his woes and go back to England. The Real Madrid management should have wished so as well, as the 31-year-old is drawing the biggest salary of the team, but the performances he has put in do not match it.
But Hazard is not giving up his dream of triumphing at Real Madrid. He wants to keep his contract until 2024 and make it big in the white jersey.
“His plan is clear:: He is staying here and he is very motivated because he has not had his best years and he is eager to show his quality,” coach Carlo Ancelotti said at a press conference.
In three seasons at Real, Hazard has appeared in 65 games, accumulating six goals and eight assists. In his last season at Chelsea alone, he scored 21 goals and added 17 assists.
Currently, the Belgian is having his worst year. He has played in 17 La Liga games without scoring a goal and adding a single assist. In the Copa del Rey, he has started two games with a 1+1 record and in the Champions League he has not featured in three games. His last game was on 19 February, when he played six minutes against Alavés.
Despite the personal setbacks, he certainly can’t complain on the team side. In his third year at Madrid, Hazard has already won his second league title, added the Spanish Super Cup and will look to reach the Champions League final this season. But his share of these successes is very small.
