Arsenal once again preyed on a rival and slapped themselves in the pocket

Two teams have shown the most interest in Kai Havertz, Arsenal and Real Madrid. The German was tipped for a move to both clubs, however the Spanish outfit pulled out of negotiations, leaving the Gunners with a clear path.

Arsenal have agreed a transfer fee of £60m with Chelsea, with a further £5m then made up of bonuses. Havertz will sign a long-term contract with his new team and will undergo a medical and introduction in the coming days.

This will be the third transfer between the London outfits. In the winter, for example, Mikel Arteta requested the purchase of Jorginho to expand the midfield ranks. Before him, it was defender David Luiz or winger Willian.

How will Arteta use the German player?

Havertz can play in several positions, which is very important for Arsenal’s offensive line. The German plays at the tip of the attack, he can also play the number ten position and is no stranger to playing on the wing.

Mikel Arteta certainly wouldn’t send £65 million for a player who should only be in the rotation. Neither Gabriel Jesus nor Eddie Nketiah have impressed much this season, so the German could become Arsenal’s number 1 striker. The Brazilian striker could then play on the left wing, where he has often rotated with Gabriel Martinelli this season.

Captain Martin Odegaard is the most frequent player in the number ten position at Arsenal, but even such a great player cannot play the whole season, so there could be a chance for a new signing. Havertz could also start on the right side when Bukayo Saka needs a break.

Havertz has only scored seven goals in this league season, yet he is Chelsea’s top scorer. Arteta, however, believes that one poor season means something. He is sure that the German will catch a boost in his new job and become another important member of the squad.

The new face in the Canaries jersey only celebrated his 24th birthday this year, so the best of his career is yet to come. With his extra 193 centimetres, he can be important in standard situations where Arsenal have mostly relied on tall stoppers.

Arsenal’s pre-season preparations are yet to begin, so together we can see how quickly Havertz acclimatises to strategist Arteta’s system.
