Barbora Krejcikova entered 2022 magnificently. She had a great performance at the Sydney tournament, reached the quarter-finals of the Australian Open in singles and even won the Grand Slam with Katerina Siniakova in doubles. She matched her ranking high and earned a solid income.
The Moravian tennis player started 2022 with a tournament in Sydney, where she reached the final. On her way, she defeated, for example, Anett Kontaveit, and in the final battle she was beaten by Paula Gibert Badosa. So the preparation for the Australian Open went well.
Barbora Krejcikova did not do badly at the first Grand Slam of the season either. She was beaten in the quarter-finals by Madison Keys, who is playing well in the tournament.
However, the Brno native made up for her singles “failure” in the doubles. She and her partner Katerina Siniakova confirmed that they are the best women’s pair in the world and dominated the Australian Open.
From an individual point of view, Krejcikova can be maximally satisfied. After updating the WTA rankings, she has reached her career high again. She moved from fourth to third, which is an excellent achievement.
The 26-year-old held the third position back in November. She is now just 165 points away from second place, which is defended by Aryna Sabalenka. The Moravian player now has 5,533 points in the rankings, the world leader is still Ashleigh Barty (8,331 points).
Krejčíková must also be happy about her bank account. In January alone, she earned $727,874, or roughly 15,922,000 crowns.
Only Barty ($2,289,320) and Danielle Collins ($1,209,616) are doing better among women.
