The KSW 75 tournament took place on Friday. There were three Czechs, but all of them lost. But two of the losses were very controversial. Michal Martinek in particular was clearly robbed of his win. However, he acted like a huge professional after the match, for which he received positive reactions.
A controversial tournament was held by the Polish organization KSW. At the gala event number 75 we witnessed several controversial results. Two of them were related to the representatives of the Czech Republic.
However, the biggest “theft” was committed by the judges in the fight of Michal Martinek, who could have come much closer to the title with a win. He fought against 40-year-old veteran Daniel Omielanczuk.
How did the fight go? Great in favor of the former Octagon champion. He kept his distance well, dismantled the Polish fighter beautifully with head punches and low kicks, he also caused more damage, had better movement, was faster and was practically not threatened.
But the judges, strangely enough, saw it differently. So after the fight Martinek had to suppress his ego and showed great character in the cage. He didn’t spit on the management or the referees. He congratulated his opponent for the win in a disappointed and frustrated manner and that was more or less it.
He has now commented on the match on social media. First and foremost, he thanked Omielanczuk for the fight, he considers him a great legend of Polish MMA and has complete respect for him. He then commented on the result of the fight.
“I trained for this fight the most in my life. The course of the fight went as I thought it would. I have nothing more to say about it. Those referees should have a match every now and then and prepare five hours a day, six days a week for three months and maybe then they would see things a little bit differently and more objectively,” the Czech is clear.
Martinek has received overwhelmingly positive reactions for his behavior. Even Polish fans are praising him, who among other things are also talking about stealing and apologizing for the way the referees robbed him of a more or less clear victory.
However, fighters such as Makhmud Muradov and Miroslav Broz have also defended Martinek. “Whoever saw the fight knows who the winner really is,” the UFC fighter wrote.
“This was your fight. You did exactly what you wanted to do. And exactly what you should have. A clear win! You’re an amazing fighter and when you read your statements, what everyone would call cursing, getting upset and throwing protests, you have to admit that you’re both a fantastic fighter and an amazing person. I’m proud of you,” Brož let his voice be heard for a change.
