Harry Kane has equalled Robert Lewandowski’s Bundesliga record for goals scored in the middle of the season. The England captain scored in stoppage time for his 22nd goal in 16 games, equalling the Polish cannonballer’s tally. He now has one more game to go to surpass him.
In the 17th round of the Bundesliga, Bayern honoured the memory of Franz Beckenbauer by beating Hoffenheim 3-0 at their stadium.
Two goals were scored by German superstar Jamal Musiala and England captain Harry Kane scored late on to equal Robert Lewandowski’s record for goals in half a season.
Harry Kane record
Kane set a new record with 21 goals in his first 15 league games. The Englishman had 62 shots on goal, with an average of one in every 3 he scored. He made the most of an excellent 14 of his 18 big chances.
The English football player also added five assists. He has therefore contributed to 27 goals scored. This makes him the league’s top scorer. He accounted for 53 percent of Bayern’s goals scored.
There is already speculation if Harry Kane could win the Ballon d’Or. The answer is simple, if Bayern can win the Champions League and the Bundesliga, Kane would come pretty close. He has been exceptional this season.
Honouring the memory of Franz Beckenbauer
Bayern Munich honoured the memory of their legend as best they could with a victory, beating Hoffenheim 3-0 at their stadium. After each goal scored by the Bavarian side, the song “Gute Freunde kann niemand trennen”, which the recently deceased legendary defender himself sang in 1966, poured through the stadium.
It was first heard in the 18th minute after Musiala’s goal, and again in the 70th minute after Musiala’s second goal. And finally in the 90th minute and with Harry Kane’s record for the third time. His triumph was met with sadness, but with a little exaggeration, perhaps it made the legendary Franz happy in football heaven…
