How did Dávid Hancko evaluate the match?
Sparta Prague played a decent game at home at Letná, creating several good scoring opportunities against Viking Stavanger, but none of them ended in a goal.
It was the efficiency in finishing that was perhaps the only problem for Brian Priske’s charges today. Sparta clearly had the upper hand in terms of footballing ability and did not let the third team in the Norwegian top flight into any significant opportunities.
“We did a good performance, but we are certainly not satisfied with the draw at home. We have to improve our efficiency for the next time,” Hancko said in an interview for the club’s website.
“I think we lacked a little bit of football luck today to get the ball rolling, to calm down completely and add more goals. Unfortunately it turned out like this, but I have to praise all the boys. I think we were well prepared and created some chances,” said the Spartans defender.
It was Hancko who burned a great scoring opportunity in the first half when he fought his way to a deflected ball in the penalty area after a corner kick, but he shot just wide of the right post.
Sparta drew 0-0 with Stavanger in front of their fans and will have a very difficult rematch. It will take place in a week, on 28 July. The Spartans must also prepare to play on artificial grass, which will suit the home team better.
