It was the first time in his career as a Formula 1 driver that he did not win at least once in a season. But in 2022, that’s exactly what happened and Lewis Hamilton ended the season without a single win. However, according to Helmut Marko, he will win again, and next year.

Not a single win in a season – that has never happened to Hamilton in his entire career as a Formula One driver, until this year.

The seven-time world champion finished on the podium nine times in the recently concluded season, specifically finishing second five times and third four times.

His closest victories were probably in the Mexican Grand Prix, where he was eventually beaten by Max Verstappen, and then in Brazil, where he fell short of teammate George Russell.

Overall, Hamilton scored 240 points this year and finished as high as sixth in the drivers’ championship. The Brit himself then described it as one of his worst seasons in the queen of motorsport.

In any case, Helmut Marko, Red Bull’s advisor and head of the junior program, believes that Hamilton will be able to win again next year. It is he who has identified Mercedes as the team that will compete with Red Bull next season and therefore, in Marko’s words, will be stronger than Ferrari.

Mark’s statement

“Ferrari is strong, but Mercedes will be stronger in the overall package. Especially with a driver like Lewis Hamilton. He’s still a top driver. It’s true that Ferrari also has a good driver in Leclerc, but he still makes mistakes,” Marko said of Hamilton and Leclerc, quoted by Racing News 365.

And how did he answer the question of whether he believes Hamilton will remain without a single win in the coming season?

“I’m afraid not (he won’t – ed.). Mercedes has come back during the year and has fought its way forward. They are not on the same level with us yet, but they have more time to develop the car in the wind tunnel,” explained Marko.

“Still, I’m not too worried. We are on track for 2023 with Max as the best driver on the grid, ” he concluded.
