Valtteri Bottas will finally say goodbye to Mercedes after the season, where he will be replaced by George Russell. Words of praise for him were sent by Lewis Hamilton, who described him as a great man. But that’s not all, Hamilton had more to say about Bottas in a positive way.

Bottas made his Formula 1 debut in 2013. Back then, as a rookie, he joined Williams Racing where he spent four seasons.

After the 2016 season, however, it was clear that Bottas would join Mercedes, where he would partner Hamilton. And it was here, from 2017, that he worked. At Silver Arrows, the thirty-two-year-old Finn filled the role of teammate. His record so far? 92 races, 9 wins and 53 podium finishes.

But his time at Mercedes is coming to an end. For next year, he’ll don the Alfa Romeo overalls. Bottas has signed a multi-year contract with the Hinwil team. The Italian team is likely to count him as the team’s number one.

However, he still doesn’t know the name of his teammate, as the Italian team still hasn’t officially confirmed who will be driver number two.

Words of praise for Bottas were sent by Hamilton, who appreciates his work at Mercedes immensely.

“Your speed and tenacity have been impressive, but what you really stand out for me is the kind of person you are. You’re better than you think and I know you have a bright future ahead of you. Thank you, Valtteri, for all your support and amazing contribution to this team. We will miss you,” Hamilton wrote on Twitter.

“I am extremely proud to have worked alongside Valtteri Bottas for the last five years,” wrote Lewis Hamilton. “He has been the best teammate I have had the privilege to work with.”
