Hamilton is not happy with the way people are judging the Mercedes-Red Bull duel. What did he say in an interview with Sky Sports?
Some Formula 1 fans may already think that Lewis Hamilton still has something wrong with him. Objectively, however, he is undoubtedly one of F1’s greatest figures, and so the media attention on him is all the more intense. Anyway, what did he say this time?

After the last Mexican Grand Prix, Hamilton faced several questions about the big push for the championship.
After all, not only did Red Bull come within a single point of Mercedes in the teams’ championship, the Austrian stable, or rather Max Verstappen, completely dominated the last race. Thanks to this, the Dutch driver increased his lead over the seven-time world champion.
The British driver also said in recent days that if Red Bull shows a similar pace in the rest of this season, Mercedes will be in big trouble. Still, he doesn’t like the way people are judging the battle between Mercedes and Red Bull.
“I don’t think people appreciate how well we did considering the speed (Red Bull) had from day one,” Hamilton said in an interview with Sky Sports.
“We struggled in pre-season testing, but then we came through and won the first race. We then had a couple of races where we didn’t have the car quite right and probably made more mistakes than we should have,” he explained.
“I mean, we did a pretty good job. Red Bull had excellent pace and speed, we just couldn’t be as fast as them most of the time,” Hamilton adds.
Hamilton went on to say, and this was almost the conclusion of this important topic, that when your opponent has a truly unbeatable pace, it’s even harder to make the right moves in terms of set-up.
The fact remains that, according to current F1 predictions, the Interlagos track should suit Red Bull better. Mercedes, led by Hamilton, may have it even harder in Brazil than it did in Mexico a week ago.
