Despite the big financial crisis, Barcelona is trying to find a way to climb back to the top. President Joan Laporta had a secret meeting in Turin with agent Mino Raiola, who has several stars in his stable. But how will Barcelona pay them?

The utter incompetence of the past management led by President Bartomeu has led Barcelona to the precipice. In the summer, Lionel Messi had to leave the Camp Nou, who simply could not be registered as the Catalans would have exceeded the salary cap.

But Barcelona couldn’t even register new signings Memphis Depay, Sergio Agüero and Eric García. That’s why Gerard Piqué gave up his salary and is now playing for free. He was to be followed by Jordi Alba and Sergio Busquéts.

However, despite this financial mess, President Laporta is looking for ways to improve the squad. And this is really needed, as the Blaugranas are only eighth in La Liga, 18 points behind Real Madrid, and they have dropped out of the Champions League group and will only play in the Europa League in the spring.

According to renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano, a secret meeting between Joan Laporta and Mino Raiola took place in Turin on Tuesday. In it, they discussed the names that one of the best agents could drag to Barcelona.

According to Roman, the following names were discussed:

Erling Haaland
Paul Pogba
Noussair Mazroui
Xavi Simons

In the case of Paul Pogba, this is quite realistic. The French midfielder is out of contract at Manchester United in the summer and Barcelona would get him for free, they would only have to throw in a salary. Even that could be a problem, according to last year, but if the Catalans manage to get rid of the extreme salaries of Umtiti and Coutinho, that will free up a lot of space under the salary cap.

A similar case is Mazraoui, who is also out of contract in the summer. The Ajax right-back could solve a burning spot in the Blaugranas’ defensive line.

As for Erling Haaland, it’s more of a utopia there. The buyout clause is 75 million euros, which in itself is a huge burden for Barcelona at the moment. Moreover, Real Madrid, Manchester City or Bayern Munich are all interested in Nora, all of them will be bidding for huge bonuses for the player, something Barcelona cannot compete with.

Moreover, Haaland only has the highest targets and it is not sure if he would want to transfer to Barcelona in his current state. The Catalan club is not even guaranteed to play in the Champions League next year, as it certainly doesn’t look like it will be in the league so far.
