Haaland at Manchester City? Real Madrid are not worried. We don’t want him on the bench, says Florentino Pérez

Real Madrid had a successful season and hoped for a successful transfer window. The royal club was linked with two talented offensive aces, but neither arrived. The rejection of Kylian Mbappé still troubles the club boss to this day, but the signing of Erling Haaland at Manchester City leaves Florentino Pérez calm.
Real Madrid boss Florentino Pérez was a guest on El Chirinquito and spoke about two mega transfers that didn’t work out. Namely, the arrivals of Kylian Mbappé from PSG and Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund.
Mbappé was supposed to be a free agent after the season, so the Spanish champion would not have to invest anything in his arrival apart from his salary. But the Frenchman decided to stay in Paris. However, it must be mentioned that PSG did their best to do so.
French President Emmanuel Macron was also involved in the decision on Mbappé’s future. Qatar also did its part. And the decision has made the talented Frenchman, Perez, very angry.
Haaland has gone to Manchester City for 60 million euros. That’s a price significantly lower than his actual value. And although La Liga boss Javier Tebas is angry with both stars, and has filed a complaint against both Manchester City and PSG for violating financial fair play, Pérez was not offended by Haaland’s decision.
“We have the best top striker in the team, he would not have been compatible with Haaland. We don’t want Erling to just sit on the bench,” German daily Sport Bild quoted Pérez as saying.
Haaland is an excellent footballer, according to Pérez, but Karim Benzema, the Real Madrid star, is a phenomenon. Because of this, there was no reason to try to replace him.
