Perhaps a bigger debacle at home against Luton was expected than a 2-0 win, but Gunners fans are still satisfied after Wednesday’s 31st round Premier League match. Their favourite Emile Smith Rowe finally returned to the starting line-up.

Coach Mikel Arteta can be satisfied with Wednesday’s work. He was able to rotate half of the squad, Declan Rice or Bukayo Saka finally got a rest, and they saved their strength for the difficult weekend match at Brighton.

And it will be a tough one, after all it was the Seagulls who robbed Arsenal of the title at the end of last season. This year, according to experts, the Gunners are much stronger, while Brighton are struggling. The cards are therefore dealt quite clearly.

He’s finally got his chance

The man of the match award goes to Emile Smith Rowe. The English midfielder won the ball in the middle of the pitch before the first goal and set up a cross.

For the second goal he basically assisted, although the pass doesn’t count in the stats because it was an own goal.

Smith Rowe has missed seven league games this season due to a knee injury, but has spent 12 of the remaining 23 completely on the bench. Eight times he came on as a substitute and at home against Luton he was given confidence from the opening minute for only the third time.

Sako’s partner will also help Odegaard

Gunners fans are also excited about Smith Rowe’s performance considering that two years ago in his greatest era he worked excellently in partnership with Bukay Saka, whom he knows well. Arsenal supporters even invented a joint chant for them.

At the same time, captain Martin Odegaard can at least partially rest in a busy schedule. Arteta does not have a typologically similar substitute for him, Smith Rowe can replace him anyway. After all, when Nor came in, he filled in for Smith Rowe.
