Guimaraes vs. Hajduk Split: Preview and betting tips
Wednesday’s poor football programme will be spiced up by Guimaraes’ match against Hajduk Split in the third round of the Conference Europa League. The visitors have a two-goal lead, what to expect from the rematch and what to bet on?
Guimaraes are looking to make amends for last year’s unsuccessful Conference League qualification, but will have a tough time in the rematch. They tuned up for it with a 1-0 league win in the first round. They finished sixth last year and would like to aim for a top five finish this year.
Hajduk even postponed league games because of Europe, playing only two out of four and winning both. They surprisingly beat their Portuguese opponents 3-1 at home and have a great chance to advance before the rematch.
Four offensive mainstays left the home side before the season and the responsibility this year will be mainly on central midfielder Nicolas Janvier, who scored four goals and assisted seven times last season. No. 10 Tiago Silva opened the net three times and added five assists.
Marko Livaja is the visitors’ biggest star, the Croatian national striker was firing sharp last year, scoring three goals and assisting once in the new season. Offensive midfielder Filip Krovinovic has scored once and assisted once so far.
Guimaraes relies on a solid defense, keeping three clean sheets in the last four games.
Hajduk, on the other hand, has been focusing its efforts on attack, scoring seven times in the last three games.
Given the increased confidence after the weekend win and the home advantage, I think Guimaraes will win.
