He came to Sparta in the Italian era of coach Stramaccioni, Sparta bought him from Crvena Zvezda Belgrade for around €1 million. After two years, Kanga returned to Serbia as a free agent to the club he left for Sparta.
The traditional Serbian outfit arguably has a very warm relationship with Kanga, although there have been major allegations against the Gabonese midfielder in the recent past.
The Congolese Football Federation accused Gabon and Kanga himself of having false documents. According to Congo, Kanga is supposed to be a Congolese native and somewhat older (35 years old). However, official documents indicate that Kanga was born in 1990 and that he is from Oyem, Gabon.
However, the dispute was eventually won by Gabon, led by Kanga. Approximately six months later, the Kanga and citizenship situation is on the scene again! Due to the regulations of the Serbian top competition, Crvena Zvezda needed to make a foreigner (in their squad) a Serb in order to potentially bring in another foreign reinforcement.
And who else took on such a role? Well of course an ex-Spartan midfielder. Kanga now has citizenship of Gabon and also Serbia. See for yourself!
As far as sporting performance is concerned, both Crvena Zvezda and Kanga have been relatively successful. In the fall part of the season, the 31-year-old offensive midfielder scored 3 goals and assisted on 3.
In the Serbian Super League, the Belgrade side is in second place behind rival Partizan, but in the Europa League, CZ Belgrade enjoyed promotion. It advanced from the first place in the regular Group F and can look forward to the eighth finals of the second most prestigious European competition.
